FPL says what customers could pay for electricity in 2027: Lower rate, but a new charge — Key Biscayne Technology news

Florida Power Light (FPL) customers could start 2027 with a slightly lower electric bill than previously expected. The company filed a new proposal with state regulators that sets an average monthly payment of $141.87 for households that use 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh). That figure is $1.18 less than the $143.05 the company had projected for January 2027 when the four-year rate agreement was approved in 2025. While the difference may seem small, it means a household with that level of usage would pay about $14.16 less over the course of the year compared with the previous projection. But there’s an important detail: the new proposal also includes an additional charge tied to Hurricane Isaias, which caused significant damage in Northwest Florida. Crime and Courts 2 hours ago
