Miami apartment fire causes evacuation, displacing 28 people — Key Biscayne Health news

A fire forced a building full of people to evacuate in Miami and some will not be able to return home. That fire broke out early Tuesday morning inside of an apartment on the fourth floor of an apartment complex off of 53rd Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street. It took over 80 firefighters and 40 minutes to extinguish the fire. Cell phone video from Miami Fire Rescue early Tuesday captured the aftermath of those flames, the entire apartment reduced to ash and soot. An elderly couple was inside of that apartment at the time of the fire and were taken to the hospital with some smoke inhalation, but are expected to be okay. Smoke could be seen coming from the balcony of the apartment. According to Miami Fire Rescue, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from all throughout the fourth floor and hallway of the five story residential building, which caused extremely low visibility for fire crews. When firefighters arrived, they in fact did find the residential building
