A summerlike pattern continues for South Florida, with mainly afternoon showers and storms and a heat index approaching 100 degrees through the end of the week. A front is stalled over central Florida, which will help trigger those afternoon storms for us, but the front is expected to lift north by the weekend, allowing a more typical pattern to move in, with less storm coverage and highs back into the upper 80s.No direct impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias in the southwestern Gulf are expected, but our friends and neighbors along the northern Gulf Coast are likely to experience the season’s first hurricane by Friday. Hurricane watches for that region could be issued as early as later this afternoon.
